
Ellen McBane is an experienced executive assistant with a strong background in office management, organization, staff supervision, and administrative support with over 26 years of work experience in higher education. Ellen holds a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from UNC-Greensboro. Ellen began her time at UNC in 1998 in the Energy Services Department Cogeneration System as an Office Assistant, working her way up to be the Business Manager. Before coming back to UNC in 2022 to join the Office of the Provost, she was Center Director for Alamance Community College’s Dillingham Center.
Currently, Ellen serves as an Executive Assistant in the Office of the Provost. In her role, she provides primary administrative support and calendar management to the Associate Provost for Academic and Community Engagement and the Associate Provost for Academic Operations while providing backup administrative support for the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.
When not at work, Ellen enjoys spending her free time painting, hanging out in nature and playing with her three grandkids.
