Mindy Storrie serves as the Associate Provost for Student Leadership, helping students develop their full potential by immersing themselves in the world-class, university-wide resources available at UNC, via partnership with Leadership Educators across the campus.  Mindy has 20+ years of experience with leadership innovation in corporate and higher education, directing the design of strategies to enhance employee and student development. She is an experienced change leader with the ability to work across boundaries and engage diverse opinions in collaborative processes to create competitive advantage.

Mindy worked at GE Aviation as a human resource manager while she was in Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Executive MBA Program.  In 1998, Mindy joined UNC as Director of the MBA Career Management Center.  She played a leadership role in developing industry standards for reporting MBA career data, working with colleagues in the MBA Career Services & Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA).  Peer schools elected her as MBA CSEA president, and she served over 300 members across the U.S.

In 2005, Mindy was offered the opportunity to build a leadership initiative for Kenan-Flagler’s MBA Program.  It was ranked #7 globally, by Bloomberg/Business Week, under Mindy’s leadership.  The AACSB, Kenan-Flagler’s accrediting body, invited her to create a Leadership Seminar for business school deans, faculty, and staff, which served 100 attendees from 75 universities representing seven countries.  It was in the role of Director of Leadership at Kenan-Flagler when Mindy first recruited experienced professionals to assist in the coaching, training, and mentoring of students as a complement to UNC’s faculty.

As the Executive Director of the Eddie C. Smith Jr. Leadership Initiative, Mindy identifies, creates, and brings together multi-disciplinary resources to help undergraduate, graduate, and professional students discover their leadership potential. She has partnered with the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, Student Life and Leadership, the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice, and Athletics.

Mindy enjoys travelling with her husband and daughter (a Tar Heel alum!), photographing the people, places, and experiences they discover together.
